How have I not updated this thing since January? Lots have been going on.
First off Shadows screened at Cinema Wasteland in Cleveland, Ohio on April 1st. Went pretty well. Me and Amanda decided since it was the first time it was screening at something I didn’t set up that we had to attend. So we drove to Cleveland to attend. While there I finally got to meet Crazy Lawnmower Guy. It was cool to meet him. After that I got to meet Ian (El Goro from the Talk Without Rhythm Podcast) and he was super cool as well. And also got to chat with Andy once again (from Destroy The Brain). We all checked out the screening and it seemed to go well. People were sort of bashing on the shorts so I was a little worried but mine went over pretty well. The next morning me and Amanda made the long drive back home. It was an awesome weekend.
SHADOWS also screened at a local filmmakers showcase here in Peoria. Some of us local filmmakers were asked to screen our films at a local Art Gallery here in town. Decent sized crowd here in town attended. All the films went over pretty well and it was a great time.
Work on Rhoda keeps chugging along. Still trying to figure out this budget thing. My least favorite part of the filmmaking process and this is the first time I’ve really had to deal with it. But we’re really wanting to do this right. Just can’t wait to actually get it going.
In the mean time I’m in preproduction on a new short film. While we’re waiting on a budget for Rhoda we figured it would be good to keep ourselves shooting. So the plan is to work on some minimal budget projects to keep us motivated and going. So I have a script that Mat Kister (from Deadlantern) wrote and I have revised. I think it’s a pretty interesting story that can play really well. So it should be fun.
Trying to get back into writing more. Lack of time seems to be the biggest problem. Even nights I don’t have anything planned it seems like it just flies by and I’m left with no time to write. The main problem that is eating up my time seems to be me jumping into more podcasts. I started up the Cold Case Cinema podcast along with Tony from Explodey Files and Mat from the Splattercast. Then on top of that I started up the Dysfunctional Workshop with Mike. I’ve been on him to do a podcast for awhile and he finally came around. We found a format that works so that we don’t have to do really any show prep. Just talk about Movies, TV, books, etc. that we’ve been exposed to. Going to be adding a fun Odd News Stories segment that should prove to be fun.
So all in all it’s been a busy busy couple of months and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be letting up anytime soon.
